Weekly Rundown-Last weeks Workouts and Shakespeare Day

Last week my workouts were pretty uneventful. I ran long on Monday and then had a few easy runs during the week. No CrossFit for me last week but that’s ok as my body welcomed the break. I had a migraine in the middle of the week so took my easy running to the treadmill in hopes of the migraine disappearing. Sometimes exercise helps when a migraine hits.

My mom came up for a visit from Thursday-Sunday morning so I took some time off from running. We kept ourselves very busy. The kids had Shakespeare Day at School. Piper took on the role of Puck in A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Brock was Macbeth. I am so impressed with all of the kids who performed and by Piper and Brock who had many lines to memorize and perform.

I am so proud of my kids for all of their hard work and hope that they will get into other dramatic performances soon as they both did an incredible job. After seeing their performances my mom and I spent Saturday doing house projects as well as enjoying some time shopping together and finished off our time together with a fantastic dinner at one of our local restaurants.

On Sunday afternoon I joined my friend Bridget at her house for a long run. She has tons of trails and dirt roads to run on near her house so we were easily able to find a loop that took us just over two hours. We ran for 2:20 and finished a total of 13 miles with 1626 Feet of elevation gain for the run.

Even though our paces weren’t fast this run challenged us and was great training for the upcoming Wallis Sands Half Marathon which is happening in less than two weeks. The Wallis Sands Half Marathon course is mostly flat so my legs will be excited after all of these super hilly runs. I am looking forward to testing my fitness soon!

Then just a quick reminder about your health. I had a mammogram scare last fall which turned out to be a benign cyst. I had a follow up ultrasound today which was all clear. Be sure to go and get yourself check out at your yearly mammogram. It is so important to stay on top of your health!
What was your best workout this week? How long was your longest run?

I’m linking up with Deborah and Kim for the Weekly Run Down.

Looks like a fun week of family and friends. Those are the best kinds of weeks. You are ready for your half! Thanks for linking up today

great week Sandra! I love that you had your mom with you for a few days so that you were able to spend time with her and enjoy the kids in their shows as well. And you got some great miles in. I wouldn’t say that you were slow or something with your trail run… that’s my Half Marathon pace!
My favourite workout last week was probably the 42KM bike ride yesterday. I’m still officially in recovery from my foot surgery so not much at the gym really excites me. I’m not allowed to run until cleared by the physio or ortho, whichever happens first.
Your children as so cute! Congrats to them both on doing well with their performances.
The last half of yesterday’s 40-mile bike ride was my best workout of the week. We stayed with our friends for the first half and took it easy, but pulled away and rode much faster during the second half. The whole ride was a blast!

Sounds like a great week full of family fun! Too bad about the migraine though 🙁 I hope it didn’t last too long and the exercise helped.

Two ((plus)) hours of hilly trails sounds quite exhausting! My longest run was an 8-miler on Saturday. Thanks for linking with us 😉

Glad your mammogram scare was only a scare. I’ve got some check-ups coming up myself. Your kids are so cute. I think it’s great their school has them doing Shakespeare.

Congrats to your kiddos on their performances. Looks like a fun day! Love how your trail run looks like sort of a heart shape on the map. I’ve been in post-marathon recovery mode. Other than one gym day and lots of walks, I’ve had lots of rest.

Just getting back to some yoga for me last week. I find when I have to rest so much my muscles actually feel pretty sore, and the yoga helps so much.
Sorry about the migraine, but the rest of the week sounds great! Always envious of people who have so many trails so close. Someday I hope that will be the case for me!

I get a mammogram every year. My sister had breast cancer so I’ve been having one since I was in my 30s.
I ran 7 miles in a new to me and hilly place. Did really great and that make me happy. I also had some speed workouts which I did well too. Two thumbs up for two great workouts this week.
