Stonyfield is a B Corporation!
*Disclaimer: I was sent a basket of B Corps Certified Goods from Stonyfield and other other B Corps Certified Companies as a Stonyfield Blogger.
Congratulations to Stonyfield on B Corps Certification! This is an exciting development for Stonyfield because they are joining 1,600 other businesses to, “lead a growing global movement of people using business as a force for goodTM” (B Corps Website)
What exactly is a B Corps? From the B Corps Website, they “are for-profit companies certified by the nonprofit B Lab to meet rigorous standards of social and environmental performance, accountability, and transparency.” This helps to ensure you the consumer that the products that you are purchasing meet the highest standards for how they are being produced, as well as environmental impacts, and impacts on employees. Our family was especially excited to hear that Stonyfield was becoming a B Corporation because our own family business Pete and Gerry’s Organic Eggs which is based in Monroe, NH is also B Corporation Certified.
Companies that are B Corps certified go through a certification process, so when you see the B Corps Seal on a product you will immediately know the positive work that is being done by that company. As a consumer it is important to understand what different labels mean to help to guide you in your purchasing. Just as you would choose a product because of the USDA Organic Seal appearing on the package when you see the B Corps Logo you will know exactly what the company does about Corporate Social Responsibility.
Stonyfield is celebrating this achievement on April 10th at their headquarters in Londonderry. Stonyfield has been a leader in the Organic Yogurt industry and also leads the way how they source their milk. A direct supply milk program has helped to sustain dairy farms in New England, an important resource in New England Agriculture. Stonyfield also is a leader in their methods for producing yogurt that is Non-GMO, pesticide free and organic.
As a Stonyfield YoGetter (Blogger) I have been invited to share in this celebration of Stonyfield becoming a B-Corps! Stonyfield has shared with me some wonderful B-Corps products that you should definitely check out!
Preserve-a company that makes recycled products such as toothbrushes from recycled yogurt cups.
Pukka a company that makes Tea and supplements-we were sent Pukka Turmeric Glow.
