Skirt Sports Virtual Boobie Run
Have you heard of the Skirt Sports Virtual Boobie Run?
*Disclaimer: This post is written for Skirt Sports as a part of my role as a Skirt Sports Ambassador Captain. All opinions expressed here are my own.
And no, in case you are wondering we are not running with blue footed boobies.
It’s time for another Skirt Sports Virtual Run! This time it’s the “Boobie Run!” This run is a celebration of Skirt Sports Birthday!!! Skirt Sports is turning 11 years old. What better way to celebrate than to do a super fun virtual run. Did you know that “11 years ago our founder, Nicole DeBoom, wore the first ever prototype of a running skirt to win the Ironman Wisconsin – and Skirt Sports was born!”
You can run an 8K or 8 miles in support of giving the girls support! This virtual race takes place on September 12, 2015 if you are lucky and live in Colorado or since it is virtual, you can run September 11-14th! I will be fitting these miles in after the Lobsterman Olympic Distance Triathlon as a recovery run from the race but you can participate any time during the race window and share your run on social media using the hashtag #BoobieLove and also by tagging @SkirtSports in your posts.
Why Should you wear a sports bra?
As a woman its important to take care of your body when you run. One essential accessory for women runners is the Sports Bra. Sports bras come in all different shapes and sizes, colors, and patterns and are made for different levels of activity. There are now also so many different styles of straps-skinny, wide, traditional, racerback and ones that still give you the “uniboob” look and ones that actually have individual cups. Your “boobies” have important connective tissue that can be damaged during working out so having the right amount of support is essential and the write fit for your body and “boobie” size is essential.
As a runner I consider myself lucky because . . . well, I have always had a small chest (except when I had babies, haha!) so have not had to deal with some of the issues that larger chested women have to deal with. Even still the girls still need support, oh and the extra plus of looking good on a run or while working out.
Benefits of Wearing a Sports Bra:
- Support, Support, Support! You need to give “the girls” support to protect the ligaments and tissue (Nobody wants saggy boobs!)
- Comfort. Your sports bra should keep you comfortable when you are training for your big goal. Make sure that the one that you pick does not cause chafing or digging into your shoulders. Wearing the wrong sports bra on a training run or during a race can make your experience miserable.
- Keep it comfy. If you are not wearing a sports brea that is giving you the correct about of support you may experience breast discomfort after exercise.
- Added bonus of feeling great and looking good too!

I love Lorna Jane bras because they’re cute, functional and the cups don’t fall out in the wash, which drives me crazy!

I have a sports bra from Victoria’s Secret that I love and another from Target that is the most comfortable thing ever. Always gotta support the girls!
I did the 13-er virtual run earlier in the summer and that was really fun!

Sounds like a fun run!! I’m a member of the small-chest community (#TeamNoBoobs), but I agree that it’s so important to take care of the girls, regardless of their size!

After reading so much about Lorna Jane, i think i will be investing in one soon.
I have a lot of different favorites depending on the type of workout. Love the cute ones wit the strappy backs but they’re never enough support for running.
This is awesome, I may sign up. I always wear a sports even though I am pretty small chested it is still necessary!!!

I am still on the look for a supportive sports bra actually. Also, I agree on all your reasons to wear sports bras, my one friend never does when she exercises bc she claims she is “small chested” so it doesn’t matter, I’m like what???!

Love your points for wearing a sports bra. My favorite sports bra is a racer back from Lane Bryant.

What a fun theme for a virtual race, and the two distances definitely make this race doable for runners of all abilities.
