I always love slipping my feet into a brand new pair of running shoes. Perhaps its the equivalent of the feeling that Cinderella got upon slipping her feet into her glass slippers for the first time. Recently I have become a huge fan of cushioned running shoes. I have tried out several different pairs and love the feeling during long training runs and races. I even wore cushioned running shoes this year at The Boston Marathon! The new Mizuno Wave Sky is a neutral cushioned running shoe.

My impression of the Mizuno Wave Sky Road Running Shoe

Slipping these shoes on you can immediately feel the cushion and they are light on your feet. The Mizuno Wave Sky has a 10 millimeter drop which is similar to what I am used to running in and not too extreme. I prefer this level of heel drop because I worry that with too low of a heel drop that I might run into achilles problems. This shoe fit well. I have a narrower foot but the sleek premium anatomical sockliner hugged my foot well. The heel cup is perfect for a narrower heel. I have a high instep which bothered a bit on my first run but with adjustment of how tight I was lacing my shoes I was able to remedy this issue (this problem is not unique to this shoe for me and rather and issue with my foot). I liked the feel of the toe box. To me this felt plenty roomy which is helpful for long distance running in preventing blisters, chafing and/or loss of toenails. If you find the toe box to be too narrow I would recommend perhaps sizing up a half size. The colorful laces are stretchy and flat making them no slip so no worries about untied laces when you head out for your miles. I love the sleek design of the Mizuno Wave Sky Women’s Running Shoe and the colors are awesome. The Teal/yellow pair that I received are a flashy jewel tone.

  1. Love these!

I have been running in Mizunos since the beginning, although I need a stability shoe, so I go for the Wave Inspire. I don’t love a lot of cushioning, and I feel like Mizuno has a just right amount for me.

    So glad you enjoyed them.

  2. I’ve been seeing lots of bloggers reviewing these shoes, they must be pretty popular as everyone has loved them! I’m an Asics girl and have never tired anything else since I found a shoe that works!

  3. I run in Saucony Ride 8 currently. Saucony Ride is the only shoe I’ve ever run in so it’s all I know. I have to have a neutral shoe and I have low arches. I don’t know how that would compare with this shoe.
