5 quiet minutes. Sitting. Eyes closed. Breathing and feeling each breath. Awareness on the body. quieting the mind. Then you are ready.

Although the weather has been unseasonably hot this fall, the mornings are still cool and the peeking colors of fall remind you that the season has changed.  Our new home perched up on a hillside in the Connecticut River Valley, overlooks the mountains and the fog filled valley every morning. My cozy fall prAna Loveland Wrap and Moto leggings are perfect for the morning runaround. Sleepy bedheads join me as I wake up. Hungry for breakfast and ready to begin their day at school. It is a daily hustle and bustle to get everyone out the door with their lunches made, backpacks and bellies full. Even the puppy is on fast forward first thing in the morning, he wants to play and runs circles through the house. Now that my daily drive time is cut down, I am back at my house before 8 a.m. My productivity levels have gone up tremendously because I have so much more time to get into the rhythm of my day. I am able to get back home and breathe.

I am working hard to add in more mindfulness in each day to help me stay better focused and on task. I am often the queen of multitasking in a way that becomes unfocused as I hop from task to task.  prAna’s new fall styles and comfort help me transition from mom mode into the next part of my day. Soft, sustainable textiles made from organic cotton through fair trade practices make me feel positive as I begin my mindful practice as I start my day. I love how versatile prAna’s clothes are. They great pieces for layering and comfortable for being an active mom and the sustainable style is a plus!

Adding in mindfulness to increase productivity and positivity.

Here are 3 steps that you can take to help you to be more productive and to stay more positive during your day.

Mindfullness and prAna

Mindfullness and prAna

  1. Stretch. Take 5 minutes for some stretching before sitting down to accomplish a task. For me this type of stretching includes a quick five minute yoga routine (sun salutations are great) or doing some runners stretches. Also, 5 minutes of foam rolling works as well to provide some myofascial release and to release tension in any muscles that may be tight.
  2. Meditate. Take 5 minutes to clear and quiet your mind. There are some great resources for mindful mediation in the web as well as some apps such as Headspace that can help you with this too.
  3. Choose. Choose 1 Task as your focus. I often fall into the trap of looking at my giant to-do list as a whole and it feels overwhelming. Instead, set your intention for one task to work on for 45-minutes to 1 hour. Then take a 5 minute break and either return to that task or if finished, cross it off your list and set your intention for the next task you will work on.

  1. This is such an important aspect of my life right now. If I don’t work to be mindful and take time to refresh, I am much less productive. That focus on one thing at a time tip is definitely what I need right now.

    P.S. I need that sweater!

  2. Love the Prana stuff! I am trying to be more mindful and do less multi-tasking. It’s a hard habit to break but multi-tasking is stressful.

  3. That sweater is so pretty – soft pink is my favorite! Love all of these tips…I like the idea of working on one task for 45 min to an hour and then on to the next task. I too get so overwhelmed with huge to do lists that are never ending. Beautiful scenery… xoxo
