Organic Runner Mom’s Workout Recap Week of September 24th
It’s time for the latest workout recap which sadly did not include as much running as last week. But I kicked things up a notch at CrossFit this week and went 4 times! Don’t miss my blog post on the Headsweats Blog about Everyday Wellness for National Women’s Health & Fitness Day (just click to read).
Monday was time for CrossFit with my favorite trainer Alaina. I was feeling a little sore from my ten miler the day before but was excited to do some strength training. We started off with some core work and then moved into practicing Toes to Bar an exercise where you hang from the bar and attempt to bring your toes all the way up. This is not as easy as it sounds and requires a ton of core strength and also coordination in using a kipping swing to repeat the motion. This is still a work in progress for me. After that we did front squats. I worked with 53 pounds in order to work on my squat positioning. We rounded out the workout with a circuit-4x250m row, 20 box step overs with 20 pound dumbells, and 10 burpees.
Tuesday: Treadmill Run
Hello crappy fall weather! Today it was between 45 and 55 degrees and rainy with wind gusts. I opted for the treadmill today for an easy 45 minute recovery run. Sometimes your just have to head indoors when you fee like it.
More CrossFit fun on Wednesday. We started with a circuit of air squats, sit-ups, and calorie bike. After that it was time for some heavy deadlifting and bar muscle ups. For the deadlifts I worked with 123 pounds and that was plenty heavy. The workout today seemed easy at the time but I was exhausted later!
Thursday: Day Off
I had planned a trail run while my kids were at soccer but life took precedence and I had to skip this run.
Friday: Run and CrossFit
A 4.5 mile run to start things off was just perfect. The leaves are just starting to change and the cooler temperatures are making me want to run more. It will be so pretty running in New Hampshire over the next few weeks! Later in the day I did CrossFit where we focused on strength with Back Squats and then Dumbbell Bench Press. It was a lot of squats and dumbbell bench press. I was very sore on Saturday!
This was a Partner WOD. I modified for banded pull-ups. We did the calorie work on the rower which I like. This was 30 sweaty minutes of work!
Sunday: Rest Day
I had hoped for a run but it just wasn’t in the cards . . .
How was your week of workouts. What workout or run is your current favorite?
