New Clif Organic Energy Food Flavors!
Organic Energy Food Pouches. Fueling for the long run!
Last summer I was introduced to the new Clif Organic Energy Food which comes in easily portable pouches and immediately fell in love. This fueling source was exactly what a had been looking for. When I am training for longer distances such as marathons, trail marathons and Half Ironman triathlon distance my body needs tons of food to keep my body moving. During my training I have found that my digestion is better when I eat real food instead of relying on processed food to get me through (although I often use Clif Shots and other gels on race day as they are easy to carry in my pockets in my Skirt Sports or in my tri top).
Clif Organic energy food pouches are a staple for the longer miles. I’ll often have one before I begin a training run or ride and loved having the banana mango with coconut within a half hour of starting both the Eastern States 20 Miler and the Boston Marathon. They are so delicious and so easy to digest. I can throw the pouches in my hydration pack and enjoy them mid ride or run.
Now Clif has introduced two new flavors: Apple Cinnamon Oatmeal and Banana Maple Oatmeal. What could be better! I am an oatmeal addict. It’s what I often eat for breakfast before I head out for my training. These new pouches allow me to have my oatmeal prior to getting going in case I don’t have enough time to have a hot bowl of oatmeal. The Clif Organic Food Pouches are all USDA Organic, Non-GMO, and Kosher.
According to Clif Organic, “Both sweet and savory recipes provide significant energy from carbohydrates, plus savory pouches have more protein, fat and electrolytes (including sodium), than you’ll find in a pureed snack product designed for babies, kids or for use outside an athletic occasion. I also love that at Clif they recognize that, “By using organically grown ingredients, we help keep harmful pesticides and synthetic fertilizers out of the environment and our bodies. Organic produces less pollution and helps create nutrient-rich soil and increases biodiversity – helping to preserve the places we play like mountains, parks, rivers and oceans. (SOURCE).”
Here is the nutrition information for one Banana, Maple Oatmeal Clif Organic Energy Food Pouch:
Now, lucky you! You can enter to win a Clif Organic Energy Food Prize Pack to try out the two new flavors! I promise you will love this addition to the line-up of your fueling regimen!

Ok, these are a great idea, but I’m pretty sure Clif wanted to get in on the trend of runners using those baby food pouches to fuel! Are they priced similarly?
