I remember why I fell in love with running. #RunLove

A run just before dusk on The Kingdom Trails in the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont brought me back to where my love for running truly began. It all started with an invitation to go for my first trail run with a new friend. I was entranced by the beauty of the trails, the scenic vistas, and the soft single track trail weaving an intricate maze through the forest floor.  A run in a playground made to challenge you on wheels or on foot. Surrounded by cool air and the fresh smell of the earth. Glimpses of white tailed deer beckoning to run faster and the join in their game of hide and seek. A conga line of beating hearts and quick breaths weaving through narrow trails and moss covered fairy woods.  Gentle water moving alongside pathways creeping through the woods.  Rolling hills climbing back up towards a ridge with sun breaking through the trees casting a warm glow on content bodies glistening with sweat. Endorphins. An invitation to come back and run it all again.

This is where I fell in love with running. This is my #RunLove

I enjoyed my solo slice of heaven on the trails last night and feel a rekindled love of running in my soul.

  1. My love of running started over 20 years ago, when I gave up my aerobics shoes for running shoes. Though I’d already been running for fitness for a couple years, I think it was my first race, a 10k that really made me realize how much I loved to run (and how competitive I was!).

    1. Awesome Debbie! 10K is my absolute favorite distance because it is just long enough to let your body settle in to an awesome groove. Do you have any big races planned?
