As of yesterday I am 41. I am 41 and thankful for the love and laughter that surrounds me in my life. I plan to spend this year cherishing my family and friends, saying more I love you’s, giving more hugs, being kind and positive even in the face of any negativity that may flow by.
I am a libra.
“The people born under the Sign Libra are kind, gentle and lovers of beauty, harmony and peace.”
We could all use a lot more beauty, harmony, and peace in our world these days. My mind is just whirling with what is happening in our country today. I keep trying to understand why there are so many people out there with so much hate in their hearts. It is hard not to let those things make you feel like the world may crash down around you. Sometimes all I want to do is run and hide and allow fear and anxiety to prevail. As a mother it is hard to feel like we can protect our littles from the dark in the world. What I must always remember and what we must continue to teach our children is what Mr. Rogers learned from his own mother,
“When I was a boy and I would see scary things in the news, my mother would say to me, “Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping.”
The acts of human kindness, heroism and pure selflessness that were displayed during the Las Vegas Tragedy are what we need to focus on and what we need to learn from. We need to focus on this part of that horrible day in order to be ok in some way.
We let the evil win and take hold in us if we are unable to recognize and emulate this innate good that resides within each of us. While we as individuals may not be able to stop events like Vegas and the Boston Marathon bombings from happening we can each be a piece in the larger puzzle of humanity that acts each day with the desire to help others.
My heart is heavy as I am sure yours is too. Let’s all work harder to lift each other up every day.
