Five Inspirations for better well-being!
So life has been pretty amazing lately. I got to spend last weekend in the woods of Maine, staying in a yurt, sharing laughter, stories and connection with 8 other women (only one of who I knew before). last Thursday I packed my running gear and warm clothes for 4 days of {Dis}connection Retreats in the woods with Crystal Seaver and Kait Johnson. The retreat was exactly what I needed. A peaceful setting in the Maine Forest Yurts in Pownal/Durham, Maine. The plan, time for exploring the woods with trail running and hiking and time for quiet, mindful yoga practice. The main goal being to disconnect (literally and figuratively) in order to connect with like-minded individuals. In our fast paced world it is often so hard to slow down and to make those important connections. Taking time like this for yourself is also so important for mental health and well-being. I am grateful for this experience and the strong reminder of the importance of talking with people, not just through texts, e-mails and social media.
Make it your goal today to slow down and connect with someone else. Take the time to talk to someone new or to tell them something that you admire or appreciate!

Quiet Inspiration

Nod, Wave, Wink . . . Hold up a peace Sign Inspiration
When you are out running and you see another runner, biker, or hiker on the road or the trail do you acknowledge them or just head on by with eyes looking away? For me it’s often a wave and a smile or a peace sign. Even when I’m running hard I still try to give a mindful glance and smile. Those quiet hellos matter and can be an encouragement or a mood lifter. Read more about what Amanda from Run to the Finish has to say on this topic in her article, “Why the Runners Nod Matters.”
Wellness find
A few seasons ago when I was preparing to run for the Boston Marathon Hyland’s Homeopathic kindly reached out with me to try their Hyland’s Leg Cramps product. My philosophy on wellness is to find products to use that are as natural as possible so this product is something that I definitely keep in my Runner’s toolkit for keeping my body running like a well oiled machine especially when training is in high gear. Hyland’s Leg Cramps offers:
- Strong and effective pain relief
- No stomach discomfort
- No aspirin, acetaminophen, ibuprofen, or naproxen
I am all for a product like this especially with articles in the news lately about how medicines such as ibuprofen are not good for runners. It is great to have a Homeopathic Alternative! You can find out more about Hyland’s Leg Cramps by watching this video!
Keep your eyes peeled as I will be running a Hyland’s giveaway soon on Instagram . . . in the meantime check out my pics and stories for more inspiration!

Love this and love the first two photos!
I’ve been inspired by a lot of runners on Instagram lately. Many runners are coming to the end of their marathon training cycle and it’s been super inspiring to see what they have accomplished, even before the big race!
I am inspired by “real” people…the ones who don’t look air-brushed, the pics that aren’t enhanced with filters, and the honesty of a tough run.
Love love love that pic of the retreat. So cool!
