I am getting very excited to hop aboard a plane tomorrow to head to Boulder and Denver Colorado for the Fitness & Health Social Media Conference. I attended the conference last year when I was still relatively new to the blogging world not really sure what I was getting into. Now I am happy to have a loyal following of running and health eating enthusiasts follow my blog Organic Runner Mom and who also follow me on social media (Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Instagram, YouTube). My hope with my blog and my social media channels is that I will inspire other athletes to set new goals for themselves, to work hard to reach their goals, and that they will then share their goals and dreams with others.
Writing a blog has been an eye opening journey for me. Through my writing I have been able discover a new path for myself and have refueled many of my passions in life. My blog has inspired me to set big goals for myself such as qualifying for and running the Boston Marathon and beginning the journey towards becoming a Holistic Health Coach through the Institute of Integrative Nutrition. I have also set smaller goals for myself such as creating a routine of #MeatlessMonday dinners for my family and starting my own vegetable garden.
I am looking forward to the Fitness and Health Social Media Conference because I will be able to continue my own journey in life as a learner (we watch our kids do it every day so it is an important reminder of how much we all grow as we learn as well as the challenges that can come with new learning). I will be given new tools for developing my blog (SEO, how to monetize, creating and E-Book etc.) so that I can reach a larger audience and will also be learning Evidence Based Health & Wellness information from some of the top minds in the field of sports medicine and the American Council on Exercise (ACE). At the conference I will also get to see and learn from some of my favorite bloggers (some of the best learning you can do comes from learning from your peers)–Alexandra and Kymberly from Fun and Fit, Amy from Spot On Wellness, Amanda from Run to the Finish, Courtenay from Running with Perseverance, Julie from Cool Mom Picks, Katie from The Hungry Runner and many more! As an added bonus these tools will also help me with my social media and blogging work as the Social Media Marketing “Chick” for our family business Pete and Gerry’s Organic Eggs!
I will be blogging and tweeting from the conference so stayed tuned for more about my adventures and learning in Colorado and the Fitness & Health Social Media Conference 2013.
Since I’ll be in Boulder, CO for part of my trip I will be seeing some of the damage from the terrible flooding. A fellow blogger friend Alexandra Williams of the blog Fun and Fit has asked if we wouldn’t mind sharing a page so that people can donate to the flood relief to help those devastated and impacted by the flooding. Please take the time to check out the donation page HERE and if you choose to make a donation please tag “FITSocial” in the notes about your pledge. Thank you for taking the time to check this out.
