Summer picnic season is in full swing which means its great to have some simple recipes on hand. In our house we love to take picnics on the go and also to host at our house to enjoy long summer evenings. One of my quick go to things to make is often a nice dip to pair with veggies or tortilla chips. This is a great way to use organic ingredients and herbs fresh from the garden. I am already planning what to bring to a 4th of July picnic happening this weekend! My favorite is Dill Garlic Dip. Also, I have some fantastic Organic, Non-GMO Tortilla Chips from Late July Organic to serve with my dip!
Late July Organic Sea Salt by the Seashore Organic Multigrain Tortilla Chips go perfectly with my favorite Dill Garlic dip. Late July Organic Multigrain Tortilla Chips are Gluten Free and free of all GMO’s! Th Dill Garlic dip is refreshing, tastes like summer and goes well with the great crunch and saltiness of these chips. You only need a few simple ingredients to get started. Any leftover dip could be used with Grilled Salmon or even lamb burgers.
One of the first things that I always plant in the spring is an herb garden so that I have tons of fresh herbs to use for cooking. Next year I want to grow my own garlic but for now I like to buy fresh local organic garlic at our Co op or local farmers market. Dill is one of our herb garden mainstays and Organic Runner Girl even likes to nibble on handfuls of herbs as a snack (Her advanced 6 year old palate makes me think she might be a budding chef?). She loved helping to mix up the herbs with the Stonyfield Yogurt and Sour Cream to make our perfect picnic snack!
Here is my recipe for Dill Garlic Dip.
- 1/2 Tablespoon of Fresh Dill finely minced
- 1 Clove of Garlic finely minced
- Salt and Pepper to Taste
- 1/2 Cup Organic Sour Cream
- 1/2 Cup Stonyfield Organic Plain Yogurt
- Dill for Garnish
- Finely mince garlic and dill.
- Mix together sour cream and yogurt.
- Add in garlic, dill, salt and pepper and blend until mixed.
- Serve with your favorite Tortilla Chips, veggies or even fish.
Enjoy the summer picnic season! What is your favorite kind of dip? What snacks do you like to enjoy at a picnic?
