Winter Cross Country Skiing-Training for a Marathon

It’s twenty below–definitely not too cold to go cross country skiing!

Today’s workout–cross country skiing. Even though it might even be too cold for the polar bears and penguins its time to get out there and get moving. The Boston Marathon is 16 weeks away which means even when it’s twenty below its time to train. Today’s workout–cross country skiing.

Would you go outside for a workout when the temperatures become arctic?

Here are some of my favorite places to go cross country skiing near where I live:

Bretton Woods Nordic Center

Craftsbury Outdoor Center-Nordic

Trapp Family Lodge

Kingdom Trails

  1. Where I live (in Canada) if you don’t get outside in the winter you go crazy! It’s so long! So a few years back I bought a pair of skate skis, headed out the door (extremely bundled) and never looked back. I love it! I sprained my ankle last week but was allowed by my doctor to cross train so skiing was in. Thank goodness! It was beautiful here the other day and had a great time on the trails. Keep up the skiing and good luck in your training for Boston!

    1. Thank you for checking out my blog Leslie! Skate skiing is my second obsession. I just love getting out on the trails. Being on the trails is absolutely puer happiness and definitely helps me to get through the long winters!
