What I’ve been up to lately with running.
Finally getting back to a regular routine. While I absolutely loved the amazing summer with my kids I do love the routine that fall and school brings. Now that things have become routine again I will be better at getting my weekly training updates posted so that you can follow along and see what I am up to. The theme for this fall is the New York City Marathon. Yes! I am going to run it and yes I am a first timer. Just in case you missed it, not only am I running 26.2 Miles in NYC in November but I will running it with Team Clarke. Team Clarke was formed by the Clarke Schools for Hearing and Speech to raise funds to help the children who attend their schools to gain the skills that they need to hear and listen (my niece attended Clarke for pre-school so this is a cause very close to my heart!) I would love it if you would visit my NYC Marathon Team Clarke fundraising page as any small amount that you can give will help children just like my niece who is now a thriving middle schooler with so much to tell you about! I am over halfway to my goal of $2500 which I hope to surpass!
Now that the Timberman Half Ironman is in my rearview mirror (recap to come soon I promise!) I am refocusing my efforts on running. I did not run as much over the summer with my focus heavily on improving my cycling and swimming. Even though it was strange to not be running as much my body welcomed the switch to two different disciplines that are low impact. Now I am going to be mostly running (on the roads and trails) with some swimming, biking and yoga mixed in. I am also back to strength training at bootcamp which I am looking forward too although I have been so sore after just two days of it since my summer hiatus.
Leading up to the marathon I may be racing the Jay Peak 25 K trail race this weekend. A crazy mountain trail running adventure but life may have other plans over the holiday weekend. I am also going to be racing the Leaf Peepers Half Marathon the weekend before my 40th birthday (eek) as a part of the Second Annual Rise. Run. Retreat. presented by Dr. COOL. This half marathon was one of the first ones that I ever ran way back in the early 2000’s so I am excited to go back and race it again in beautiful Waterbury, Vermont during peak foliage sign. Look out leaf peepers . . . crazed running bloggers will be descending on this beautiful race!
