A visit to Skirt Sports Headquarters.
It’s Valentine’s Day. Today I’m spreading the word about why you will fall in love with Skirt Sports. As you probably already know I am a a Skirt Sports Ambassador. My love for Skirt Sports has become one of obsession since my first true run in a Gym Girl Ultra running skirt. When I run in Skirt Sports I run #likeagirl and feel confident and strong. When Organic Runner Dad and I traveled to Colorado in January I couldn’t wait for our time in Boulder. My time there included a visit to Skirt Sports and some time meeting with founder Nicole DeBoom and Community Outreach Manager Noelle. As they say I got to “see where the magic happens.”
The office is filled with inspirational posters, vision boards, and a giant Goals Board from last years Half Marathon (Now the “thirteener”). My favorite thing to see on the walls is Nicole’s original Skirt Sports design the Triks Skirt. Nicole crossed the finish line of Ironman Wisconsin in first place in 2004 wearing the Triks running skirt becoming an Ironman triathlon champion and forever changing the running apparel business forever. You can be fast and wear a skirt while doing it!
I met Noelle who met me in downtown Boulder for breakfast at a wonderful little restaurant called “Snooze” and then she took me to Skirt Sports Headquarters. Skirt Sports is as you might imagine, an upbeat, positive environment with pink walls and an in-office mini-boutique. Noelle showed me around the office. I got to take a peek in the design room where collections are already being realized for next year. Sadly I can’t show you the fun flirty styles that I caught a glimpse of. While I was there they measured me so that I might be able to do some wear-testing of upcoming products (yes!).
After that I got to sit in for part of a planning meeting for the month and then a Pow-Wow with Nicole and Noelle. It was awesome to be able to talk Nicole and Noelle about the Ambassador program and social media for Skirts Sports.
While I was there I also got to sneak out for a run with Nicole (Skirt Sports founder). When she asked me if I could go for a run of course I said yes! Who wouldn’t want to go for a run with an Ironman champion and a revolutionary in women’s running apparel? I was definitely not up for a fast run due to my back/hip issues and was definitely winded from the higher elevation. Nicole took me for a great half hour trail run on some of the trails winding around near the Skirt Sports office. I was surprised to see little prairie dogs popping out and taking a look at us as we ran by.Running with Nicole was fantastic. She shared with me some of the future goals and plans for Skirt Sports and picked my brain about social media, blogging and my blog. This was the highlight of my visit to Skirt Sports!
