Gear Review–Dynafit Trail Running Gear Trail Jacket and MS Feline Vertical Pro
*Disclaimer: I was given these trail running shoes and trail running jacket by Dynafit North America for my review. All opinions expressed here are my own.
Even though I have been spending a ton of time road running lately as I get ready for the TCS New York City Marathon, trail running was my first running love. There is nothing better than cruising through the woods on single track trail, soft leaves and earth crunching underfoot. I am very fortunate to live in an area where there are endless trails to run on. We live close to the Kingdom Trails in Burke, Vermont but also have a massive network of snowmobile trails right out our back door that run up and over pretty New Hampshire mountains. We even have trail loops cut through our property. My last jaunt through the woods on a trail run even gave me a glimpse of a fisher cat, an animal I had not yet seen before in the wild. It is easy to find a peaceful meditation running through the woods breathing in the fresh air and the smells of the woods.
As the leaves fall and the trails become a bit more hidden they can become a little bit slick so having a great trail shoe with a nice tread to carry you along is definitely ideal.Recently I was sent a pair of Dynafit MS Feline Vertical Pro Trail Running Shoes to try. This trail shoe boasts its lightness and traction. It is made to be a flexible shoe to help with vertical ascents and descents. It has defined lugs, combined with Megagrip by Vibram®, making this a super grippy shoe even on more slick and steep trails. This shoe is made for the female foot which is great because it is nice and narrow for my slender foot.
The only trouble that I found with this shoe is that the speed laces are long but this can be fixed with a replacement lace or by tucking the laces in. They also recommend that this shoe runs small so to try sizing up a half size to give you adequate room especially in the toe-box.
