Hugs are good for you and the ones you love because:

  1. Hugs boost Oxytocin levels–I know we could all use a little more of the “love hormone.” Oxytocin can improve feelings of lonliness and anxiety.
  2. Hugs help to releases serotonin which is a neurotransmitter released by your brain that helps you to feel happy.
  3. Hugging will help you to feel more relaxed and less stressed because cortisol levels will drop.
  4. Hugging can help lower your blood pressure.
  5. Hugging helps stimulate positive communication by causing feelings of empathy for others.

So what are you waiting for? Get out there and G.O. H.A.R.D.! Go hug a runner and spread the love and as they say at Run the Edge, “share the sweat!”
